Filling a point map with a regular pattern is a key step in the visual representation of land-use data. The traditional method can't adapt well to the shape features of complex regions, which leads to the unreasonable symbol arrangement of inner regions and region boundaries in the symbol filling process. To this end, this paper proposes a method of automatic filling of dot symbols in complex regions considering shape features. First, based on the constrained Delaunay triangulation, the internal structure of the complex region is divided into three simple filled regions, denoted as tile type, narrow type and point type. Next, based on the geometry features, the three types of regions are filled with the plane, line, and point levels of the symbol, respectively. Finally, the point symbols near the boundary are adjusted based on the boundary constraints to optimize the symbol filling effect. The experimental results show that the proposed method improves the dot sufficiency of complex regions. The edges of the point symbol group closely conform to the boundary and conform to the extended features of the boundary. There is no space conflict such as spatial overlap. The filling result can better reflect the The shape characteristics of the area. |
