题目: Thermodynamic prediction of corrosion resistant alloy and experimental investigation under simulated MSW combustion
内容提要:

Combustion of MSW for energy production has been primarily focused on reducing emission to the atmosphere. This was achieved by the use of advanced air pollution control systems. However, overall cost of operating the boiler increases making the technology unfeasible. To counterbalance the costs, more electricity should be produced by increasing the boiler efficiency from the current steam parameters of 400 ºC and 40 bars to more than 500 ºC and 100 bars. Nevertheless, increasing steam parameters, corrosion of the boiler components becomes so severe, further increasing the operational and maintenance costs. Therefore, novel cost effective corrosion resistant alloy should be developed that are able to withstand corrosion that occurs at elevated steam parameters. The trial and error method for the development of the alloy is very expensive and is time-consuming. Alternatively, thermodynamic modeling can be used to predict, design, and optimize alloy composition capable of resisting boiler corrosion. Thus, this presentation focuses on the development of novel corrosion resistant alloy and
experimental testing of its corrosion susceptibility. The meeting agenda and the supporting PPT documents are attached.
