Peter Newmark（1916--2011），a famous British translation theorist and originator of communicative translation and semantic translation，was born in 1916. He worked on translation of multiple European languages, so he was considered as an outstanding translator and editor.
He was also a linguist, and has served as the president of Association of British Linguists and once he was the professor of University of Surrey. |
