Foreignization demands translator to get close to the writer,and be royal to the original text; but domestication demands the translator get close to the target language,and use the target language to transfer the original content. In other words,foreignization is SL ( Source language) culture originated, domestication is TL ( Target Language) culture originated Domesticating Method Advantages : smoothness easily accepted by TL readers
Disadvantages : losing original image obstacles of cultural communication
Foreignizing Method Advantages: retaining the original image enriching the TL promoting the cultural communication
Disadvantages: non-smoothness easily resisted by the TL readers |
