Fluid loss additive (FLA), an important type of admixture, was widely used in well cement to prevent mud filtrate entering the formation. In this study, a novel sustained-release-type fluid loss additive was synthesized by means of intercalation reaction between anionic type fluid loss additive and calcium/aluminum type Layered Double Hydroxide (LDH). Through the comparison experiment, it was found that in seawater mixing conditions, this composite material with slow-release function could effectively improve the controlling loss of water and retention fluidity performance of cement slurries. Taken together, these advantages opened the possibility to conquer the negative effect of metal salt ions present in seawater, therefore, this hybrid materials might meet various practical demands of offshore well cement. |
