Heat recovery is an effective way to reduce energy consumption of HVAC system. Dew point evaporative cooler is good cooling/heat recovery device. To improve the performance of evaporative cooler, we combined the advantages of counter and crossflow, a small size counter- crossflow cooler coating with nylons on wet channel surface was proposed. The effect of operation parameters on the performance of dew point evaporative cooler was analyzed. Nylon fiber coating on the wet surface can improve its effectiveness. The wet bulb effectiveness of Polystyrene + Nylon fiber (PS+NL) dew point evaporative cooler ranged between 66.3% and 107.0%, whereas the dew point effectiveness varied between 46.7% and 78.6%. Compared with previous studies, the effectiveness of counter-crossflow PS+NL indirect evaporative cooler is approach to counter flow evaporative coolers and higher than the crossflow evaporative cooler. And it can reduce the size of the cooler when providing same air flow rate. Therefore, it is a good solution for residential building heat /cooling recovery in the future. |
