The invesitagion of wind around buildings in an urban community is crucial for designing natural ventilation in buildings, pedestrian comfort, and air pollutant dispersion. With the development of computing resources and grid generation techniques, an increasing number of researchers have used computational fluid dynamics in obtaining the information on the urban wind environment. The accuracy of CFD simulations relies on many factors, among which computational domain and representation of surroundings are the prerequisite. For the computational domain, we used our prvious developed full-scale model to conduct the numerical simulation. Then, we used a residential building as our target building to explore how many surrounding buildings should be included in simulating wind flow around building. And we chose the maximum dimension of the building, that is the length of the target building with 65 meters, as a scale in radius direction to cover surrounding buildings in different range. Different layers were defined by the multiple times of the scale. We found that At least within three L radius of the target building should be simulated with detailed building structures. |
