Air change rate data for residential buildings in China are scarce. This study investigated the infiltration rates and air change rates in homes located in 5 climate zones in China. The annual infiltration rates in 245 homes were found to fit the lognormal distribution and median infiltration rate was 0.33 h-1. The air change rates in bedrooms during night were calculated using occupant generated CO2 as tracer gas. The air change rate ranged from 0.1 h-1 to 10 h-1. Occupants’ behaviour have substantial influence on air change rates in homes.
