The genus Aruncus are perennial herbs with large rhizomes, leaves alternate. The flowers are unisexual and dioecious with large spike inflorescence and slender filament. There are about six species in the world, mainly distributed in the cold temperate zone of the northern hemisphere. Two species of them are growing in China, namely Aruncus sylvester Kostel. and Aruncus gombalanus Hand.-Mazz.. According to the reports, the compounds isolated from the genus Aruncus are mainly phenylpropanoids, phenolic acids, terpenoids, flavonoids and so on. In terms of pharmacological activities, although many literature have reported that Aruncus has a variety of biological activities including antioxidant, anti-diabetic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, damage repair, skin protection and antithrombotic, it is basically concentrated on the extraction of Aruncus, and there is little research on the bioactivities of compounds. |
