Ellagic acid (150mg) were isolated from the QLB30 extract of the fruits of Quercus wutaishanic. According to the literature, Ellagic acid has strong antioxidant and whitening activities. It can inhibit many kinds of cancer cells, including prostate cancer, colon cancer, breast cancer, liver cancer, pancreatic cancer and cervical cancer. It also prevents obesity induced by high-fat diet in rats. Ellagic acid exhibits certain anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial activities by inhibiting interleukin-1 (IL-1) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha). It is an effective inhibitor of eosinophils and can be used to treat allergic inflammation. It can resist carbon tetrachloride-induced hepatotoxicity in vivo and in vitro. It also inhibits the production of melanin by inhibiting the activity of tyrosinase.
Pentagalloylglucose (150mg) isolated from QLE has the effects of alleviating diabetes, kidney diseases, and vascular diseases, and has become one of the candidate compounds for the treatment of diabetes mellitus.
