The academic report sees no essential difference between vocational education and corporate on- job training in China as vocational education can be regarded as an extended part of corporate on-job training in school. The blurred distinction between vocational education and corporate on- job training, which the author calls training- oriented vocational education, runs counter to the prime target of vocational education. Starting from a historical and logical point of vocational education, the author tries to differentiate between training- oriented education and education- oriented vocational education, and points out that the philosophy of vocational education should be based on the technical philosophy in the process of developing a vocational education model with Chinese characteristics. He also holds that edification, spiritual enlightenment and personality development should play a pivotal role in education- oriented vocational education, and vocational education should aim at the cultivation of technicians with freedom. |
