With rapid changing knowledge economies, higher education plays more important role in servicing social and economic development. University-industry collaboration (UIC) becomes an effective channel of transferring knowledge and improving the quality of talents. Considering that the quality of UIC is the basis of developing and remaining collaboration, it is worthwhile to construct an evaluation index system to assess the effectiveness of UIC. Based on total quality management theory, an evaluation index system is designed covering input, process and output of UIC, which contains seven modules and corresponding first and second level indexes. Analytic hierarchical process (AHP) is employed to calculate the weights of indexes and evaluation matter-element model of UIC is developed to assess the grades of UIC quality on concrete indexes. Finally, the evaluation tool is employed to assess the quality of four UICs in China. The paper concludes by the implications for evaluating the quality of UIC and suggestions for future. |
