During combustion of MSW, various elements such Cl, K, Na, S, Zn, and Pb are released into the furnace. These elements lead to ash deposition and high temperature corrosion of the load bearing components such as superheater, waterwall and furnaces. Prediction of the corrosion potential of the ash deposits formed on the boiler tube metal is of paramount importance in order strategies ways to reduce their corrosion tendencies. However, due to lack of online measurements by experiments, thermodynamic prediction is a vital tool shed more light. The purpose of this presentation is to predict the corrosion potential of alkali chlorides as a function of variation in concentration of corrosive elements in the feedstock. |
