The 3dB modulation bandwidth of commercial phosphorescent white light emitting diode (LED) is only a few megahertz. In order to solve the limitation bandwidth of visible light communication (VLC) system, the analog pre-emphasis technique, post-equalizing technique and the method of combining is studied. In this presentation, we demonstrate a 80MHz VLC system based on the commercial phosphorescent white light LED. Utilizing the pre-emphasis and remaining carrier sweep out circuit, the 3dB bandwidth of VLC system could be extended from 3MHz to 80MHz with blue filter. The LED driver is realized in a UMC 0.18μm CMOS process. This driver IC can be properly applied to VLC systems with advantages of low cost and high integration density. |
