1. Introduction
The primary metabolic genesin Streptomyces species are more conserved, which has been illustrated by comparing genome and pangenome analysis. As for a newly sequenced Streptomyces strain, it would not significantly expand the size of the set of primary metabolic reactions in Streptomyces species, if the specific reactions of the strain were unknown.
2. Methods
Protein similarity were calculated from a pair-wise comparison of homologous sequences between the protein sequences in the model iMK1208 and the protein coding sequences of the 31 Streptomyces strains by BLAST v2.2.30+. 3) The top hit for each protein sequences (that was, lowest e-value) was selected as the optimal comparison result.
3. Results
The results showed that more than 72% examined proteins had high homology with every surveyed strain. And the lower diversity of metabolic functions could be found than that of genes, suggesting that the higher conservation could be existed in metabolic reactions than metabolic enzymes.
4. Conclusions
The constructing of a general metabolic network model for other Streptomyces strains only need to add little diversity to the current primary metabolic network of the model strain S. coelicolor A3(2). The metabolic reactions in the model of iMK1208 can be referenced to other Streptomyces strains for metabolic network model construction. |
