题目: Anti-diabetic effect of the genus Aruncus
内容提要:

α-Glucosidase is a key enzyme that transforms disaccharides into absorbable monosaccharides in the small intestine, which is the final step in the digestion of carbohydrates. Inhibiting the activity of α-glucosidase can block glucose formation, and then reduce the post-meal blood glucose level, effectively moderate insulin resistance to achieve the target of treating the diabetic. In vitro a-glucosidase inhibition assay, 4-nitrophenyl-α-glucopyranoside (PNPG) is catalyzed by combined with a-glucosidase to get p-nitrophenol (PNP) which have maximum absorption at 405 nm. Enzymatic activity can be quantified by measuring the absorbance. Due to its convenience, it is widely used to evaluate the anti-diabetic effect of various samples. The anti-diabetic effect of the Aruncus dioicus var. Kamtschaticus root extract were tested via a-glucosidase inhibition assay. Results showed that the ethyl acetate extract can inhibit the activity of α-glucosidase efficiently.
